A Day at D’Leonor Inland Resort and Wavepool
Hubby and I have long planned of having a summer outing for the family. We considered a lot of choices at first and we end up deciding to go to D’Leonor Inland Resort and Wavepool since we have never been to the place. We read a mix of negative and positive comments about the resort on the net so trying it out ourselves is the best way to get a first hand experience.
The resort is located at Communal, Purok 5, Davao City. It is about 6.2 kilometers from Buhangin hi-way. It is owned by Leonor Lim who also owns RDL, Emar’s Wavepool, Japanese Tunnel, and D’Leonor Hotel in Bajada, Davao City.
D’Leonor Inland Resort as a whole covers 26 hectares under development and some of it’s amenities are still under construction. It has quite big parking space in front of the resort but according to the driver who toured us, there were times that their parking area get full especially if there are many functions in the resort. Anyways, there’s always a room for expansion given their very huge area.
Upon entering at D’Leonor Hotel and Inland Resort, entrance fee is being collected. Php100.00 for adults and Php50.00 for children.
How to get there
D’Leonor Resort is located at Barangay Communal, Purok 5, Davao City. It is about 20-40 minutes ride from downtown area. Most people who go there have private cars. You may hire a taxi which will cost you around Php250-300.00. You may also arrange from D’Leonor Inland resort for your transportation so they can fetch you. Their transportation tariff is very reasonable.
If you prefer public transport, the route that passes the place is the “Communal” route. These usually are small multicabs. However, there are only few PUJs plying this route so it is not at all preferable.
Wavepool and Raging River
Entrance fee to the wavepool is Php250 for adults and Php150 for children. Take note that you have to pay the entrance fee whether you take a bath in the wave pool or not as long as you enter into the wave pool area. If you bring with you foods, Php200.00 is charged for the corkage of all the foods you bring. If you have with you soft drinks, you will be charged Php30.00/per 1.5 liter bottle.
You are not allowed to use breakable utensils in the wave pool so you better bring plastic utensils to avoid hassle. Kitchen knife is also not allowed inside the resort. If you need one, you may just borrow from their restaurant.
We were there from 8:30 in the morning until around 4:00 in the after noon but it was only twice that the pool had waves. We asked what’s the frequency of the waves on the pool and we were told that it is supposedly every 40 minutes but since there’s a problem with their machine, they had it only twice, at around 12:00 noon and at 3:00 in the afternoon.
There is a restaurant inside the wave pool area but we did not order any food from there because we brought plenty of foods with us to lessen our expenses.LOLz. But if you don’t bring foods, you can order foods from there and have it delivered on your cottage. I have seen waiters bringing foods and delivered it to our neighboring cottage. The food look yummy but I can’t really say something if it’s really delicious because I have not tasted it.
There are plenty of small cottages fronting the wave pool that can accommodate 12 people. The smallest cottage costs Php500.00. Bigger cottages that accommodate 24 people costs Php800.00.
There are also rubber boats and paddlers for a fee. They also have life vest and the good news is it is free.
We had with us our 3 year old kid so we went to the zoo for her to see some live animals that she only sees on TV. Entrance fee to the zoo is Php70.00 for adults and Php50 for kids. The zoo is not that very huge but there are a number of animals that are endemic in the Philippines as well as from outside the Philippines contained in the zoo. To see photos of animals at D’Leonor Inland Resort Zoo, visit here.
You can also go fishing at the resort. Fishing is at Php30.00 per 100 grams and they offer free grilling for the fish you will catch. Fishing sounds exciting don’t you think?
For the adventure lovers, there is also a zipline at D’Leonor Inland resort. The fee for zipline is Php250.00 for adults and Php150.00 for kids. It is a 460 meter zipline so it will surely ignite your adrenaline rush.
